Dr Chapman graduated from the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in 1986 and continued studies at the department of Biochemistry, Wise Faculty of Life Sciences, Tel Aviv University receiving a PhD in Biochemistry in 1991. In 1994 he completed his residency in Neurology at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. In the years 1994-5 he was a postdoctoral fellow in neurogenetics at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA and from 1996-2002 was head of the Neuroimmunology Clinic at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, Israel. In 2002 he was appointed Chairman of the Department of Neurology at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer the largest medical center in Israel. He is the President elect of the Israel Neurological Association.
Dr. Chapman has published over 220 peer-reviewed papers including those on the genetics of MS and dementia, animal models of CNS autoimmune disease and new imaging techniques in MS. He is Professor of Neurology and the Robert and Martha Harden Chair in Mental and Neurological Diseases at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University.
